U.S. Judge Applies Foreign Law in Holocaust-era Claim

On April 30, 2019, after nearly 15 years of litigation, a federal judge in California has ruled that the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum in Spain can keep a painting that the judge acknowledged was “wrongfully taken” by the Nazis from the Plaintiffs’ great-grandmother, Lilly Cassirer Neubauer.
