Culture, Interrupted: Talk with the Fralin Museum of Art at the University of Virginia

CHP partner Eden Burgess recently gave a talk about the legacy of art looted during World War II and other violent conflicts, moderated by attorney Bill Charron. Eden discussed the history of art looted by the Third Reich and described how claimants have used the courts to pursue restitution. She presented on several cases she has worked on, including the first U.S. case to establish that a forced sale is the equivalent of a theft. Eden also talked about the many losses suffered by churches in northern Cyprus, occupied by Turkey since 1974.

If you missed the live event but still want to watch, the video recording will be available on The Fralin’s YouTube channel until the end of this week.
