TELL US WHERE CULTURAL RESOURCES ARE AT RISK

Recent regulatory changes at both the national and local levels—including executive orders aimed at speeding up the permitting process for all energy-related projects, the rescission of National Environmental Policy Act regulations, and the attempts to preempt state laws related to permitting—have placed cultural resources at risk of irreparable damage and harm. We are prepared to fight back and protect our cultural resources in the face of these threats, but we need your help.

We need you to be on the lookout to help us IDENTIFY situations where cultural resources are at risk and that would provide the opportunity to bring a strong challenge to the Administration’s orders, which we think have a good chance of being overturned by the courts.

Here are key signs to look for and let us know about:
  • Developers are ignoring consultation requirements with Tribes, local governments, or other consulting parties.
  • African American or Tribal burial grounds or other important sites are being damaged or destroyed.
  • Environmental resources are also threatened.
  • Tribal treaty rights are being violated.
  • State or federal agencies are fast-tracking permits without full review.
  • Communities are reaching an impasse in recovering damages for harm that has already occurred.

You are the first responders. If you see any of these signs or harm to cultural resources happening in your community, we need to know.

Sound the Alarm!

Here’s how you can let us know what you’re seeing:
